Gender Dimensions

Gender has a profound influence in our lives, but it is not inborn, it is a social construct. From the moment we are born, we are inundated with gender messages and exposed to gender norms that can impact our beliefs, values and self-perception. When gender expectations are restrictive, they can interfere with the development of authenticity and positive gender identity, expression and orientation. Exploration can be nuanced and confusing. Therapy provides a safe space for examining gender identity, from ones lived experience, be that cisgender, non-binary, transgender, or anywhere else on the gender spectrum. Therapy is also a place to delve into gender expression that you would like to embody, consider aspects of sexuality, and/or talk about concerns related to other gender dimensions.
